MediaTek Launches Dimensity 9400: World’s First 3nm Chipset
MediaTek has officially unveiled its latest flagship chipset, the Dimensity 9400, which is the world’s first 3nm Android chipset. This groundbreaking technology sets a new standard for mobile performance, promising unmatched speed, efficiency, and graphics capabilities, making it a game-changer for high-end smartphones.
Specifications and Performance
At the core of the Dimensity 9400 is a 3.63 GHz Cortex-X925 super-core, supported by a 1+3+4 architecture. The chipset features three Cortex-X4 cores running at 3.3 GHz for heavy workloads, while four Cortex-A720 cores are clocked at 2.4 GHz to handle efficiency tasks. MediaTek claims that the Dimensity 9400 offers a 35% increase in single-core performance and a 28% boost in multi-core performance, thanks to a 15% increase in IPC (Instructions per Cycle) combined with higher clock speeds.
Graphics and Gaming Enhancements
On the graphics side, the Immortalis-G925 GPU delivers a remarkable 41% performance boost, making it ideal for gamers and power users. The GPU features 40% faster ray tracing and 44% better power efficiency, ensuring smooth and energy-efficient gaming and visual experiences.
AI Capabilities and Imaging Features
A standout feature of the Dimensity 9400 is its NPU 890, which manages on-device AI with 35% lower power consumption compared to its predecessor. This NPU enhances AI-driven features, such as image correction for sharper photos and enables 100x zoom with exceptional detail. The Imagiq 1090 ISP allows users to capture HDR video across the entire zoom range without compromising quality, making it easier to switch between lenses and zoom levels during video recording.
Memory and Cache Improvements
The Dimensity 9400 is also the first chipset to support 10.7 Gbps LPDDR5X RAM, providing next-level speed and responsiveness. Additionally, it features a 100% increase in L2 cache and a 50% boost in L3 cache, further enhancing performance and efficiency.
Market Availability
MediaTek has begun shipping the Dimensity 9400 to smartphone manufacturers, with the first devices featuring this chipset expected to hit the market soon. The vivo X200 series is set to debut this month, followed by the Oppo Find X8 in November.
