The Punjab School Education Department issued a notification on December 17, 2024, stating that schools across Punjab will remain closed from December 20, 2024, to January 10, 2025. These dates apply uniformly to both public and private institutions.

Classes to Resume After the Weekend

As per the notification, classes will resume on Monday, January 13, 2025, since January 11 and 12 fall on a weekend. This adjustment ensures a smooth transition for students returning to school after the break.

Health Protocols to Stay in Effect

The notification emphasized that existing restrictions regarding the use of face masks within school premises will remain in force. This measure is part of ongoing efforts to safeguard the health of students and staff amid seasonal health concerns.

Instructions to Authorities for Compliance

The directive has been circulated to relevant authorities, ensuring seamless implementation:

  • Deputy Commissioners and Chief Executive Officers of District Education Authorities have been tasked with ensuring compliance at the district level.
  • The Director General of Public Relations Punjab has been instructed to share the notification across media platforms for public awareness.
  • The department’s monitoring wing will upload the notification to its official website for easy access.
