Zong 4G joins hands with Breathe Pakistan to drive green innovation

Zong 4G, a leader in technological innovation, has proudly partnered with Dawn Media Group for the Breathe Pakistan International Climate Change Conference. This two-day event aimed to build a climate-resilient Pakistan by bringing together international and local experts, government bodies, corporate leaders, and innovators dedicated to sustainability.

The conference was a collaborative initiative supported by the United Nations, the Government of Punjab, and the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) as principal partners. Over 15 sessions took place. The event featured more than 90 speakers from 11 countries. Experts discussed strategies to make Pakistan climate-resilient by 2047.

Roundtable Symposium: Bridging the Gap Between Government and Corporate Sector

One of the key sessions of the conference was the Roundtable Symposium on climate resilience in Pakistan. The discussion focused on a new blueprint for collaboration between the government and the corporate sector. Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Ishaq Dar and the Minister for Foreign Affairs chaired the session. Leading corporate executives also participated, including Nabila Yazdani, Head of Strategy, Communication & Sustainability at Zong 4G.

Nabila Yazdani emphasized Zong’s commitment to climate resilience, stating:

Zong 4G’s Commitment to Green Energy

Zong 4G has been at the forefront of green energy adoption by taking significant steps to reduce its carbon footprint while maintaining seamless connectivity. Some of the key initiatives include:

  • Solarizing over 1,000 cell sites to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
  • Operating 12,000+ sites on lithium-ion batteries, significantly lowering carbon emissions.
  • Establishing an energy-efficient Rated-3 certified data center, which helps in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Disaster Relief and Connectivity Restoration

Beyond green energy initiatives, Zong 4G has played a crucial role in disaster relief efforts. During the recent floods in Sindh and Baluchistan, Zong actively restored connectivity, supporting families, rescue teams, and government agencies. Additionally, the company established 30+ free medical camps, providing over 13,000+ free medical consultations in the affected regions.
