On Thursday, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz presided over an important meeting and directed the provincial authorities to immediately reduce the price of bread after a reduction in the price of flour so that the common man could be directly benefited.
The meeting was held to control prices of goods across the province, which was attended by top officials, Price Control Department, and district administration officials.

“Bread is the basic need for every house, and if the poor man loses it, it is a moment of concern for the government. I will never tolerate that people are forced to sleep.”

The meeting also expressed concern over the prices of chicken, vegetables and pulses. Maryam Nawaz said that weekly markets and shops should be strictly monitored so that no illicit profits or storage can be done.
He warned that strict legal action will be taken against those who exploit the people by creating artificial shortages.

The Chief Minister said that the top priority of the government is to provide cheap and quality items to the people. He instructed the Price Control Magistrates to regularly inspect the markets and that violators would face fines and legal action.
