Germany to Provide Technical Training for Returning Overseas Pakistanis
The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development has taken a significant step by establishing the Pakistani-German Facilitation & Reintegration Centre (PGFRC) in Lahore. This center aims to provide returning overseas Pakistanis with the necessary support to reintegrate into the country’s social and economic fabric through skill development and training. The Overseas Pakistani Foundation (OPF) head office has also set up an advice desk to assist these individuals in various areas.
Collaboration with German Partners
The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, a German development agency. It is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between GIZ and the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development. The primary goal of this collaboration is to provide technical assistance to the facilitation and reintegration center, helping Pakistani workers acquire relevant skills for better employment opportunities.
Enhancing Employment Opportunities
The PGFRC provides services to boost job opportunities and employability for Pakistani workers. This effort will support long-term economic growth in the country. Officials state that the program aims to match returning workers’ skills with local job market needs. This ensures they can find employment and contribute to Pakistan’s economy.
Comprehensive Services for Reintegration
The PGFRC provides a wide range of services to help returning Pakistanis successfully reintegrate. These include:
- Technical and vocational training to improve job readiness.
- Advice on job market trends and opportunities in Pakistan.
- Support for entrepreneurship and start-up ventures for those looking to start their own businesses.
- Psychosocial support to help with emotional and mental well-being during the transition.
- Information on the health system and living conditions in Pakistan.
- Guidance on accessing microfinance and loans for financial assistance.
This comprehensive support structure ensures that returning Pakistanis are equipped with the necessary tools to thrive in their homeland.
